Women in Technology Add Value

Women are growing in the workforce for technology-related jobs. Once underrepresented, this minority group is finding its way into “Tech” roles such as Software Developers, Data Scientists, Information Security Analysts, Computer Network Architects, and more. “With-Tech” roles are increasing as well for Product Managers, Account Managers, UX/UI Designers, Graphic Designers, Marketing Managers and related fields.

Because of the influx of women in tech, the job-specific teams benefit by a different perspective and alternate viewpoints. Often roles being filled by women in information technology or tech related roles lead to better organizational outcomes. Additionally, women in tech are more likely to influence company culture by representing women and their needs as a group better.

Men and women see things differently and bring varying ideas to the table. So more women in the Tech sector enables different viewpoints and problem solving, which can boost performance at the company leadership level. Diversity in tech can generate more revenue. By nature, interacting with a diverse team forces individuals to prepare better and anticipate alternative viewpoints. Imagine all of the buying power you will tap into by bringing together a mix of genders with various backgrounds and ethnicities?

Today women make up 26.7% of technologists — a 2.1% drop in representation from March 2020 and a reverse after five years of progress. Due to the pandemic, women in the tech sector took a hit as they were focused on the primary care of children. But that is changing and women are making a strong comeback.

Of that 26.7% in technology, 14.1% are White women , 9.6% are Asian women, 2.2% are Black women, and 1.7% are Latin women. But women of color are leading elsewhere: 89% of all businesses started by women are founded by women of color. The Hyacinth Group is one of those businesses, founded in 2019 by our CEO Lauren Johnson.

When one woman helps another, amazing things can happen. At the Hyacinth group, 73% of our clients are women-owned and led companies. We have always supported women and will continue to do so.
